Instant Detective Game

The mystery game that gets kids moving, socializing, and thinking - Instantly!

Instant Detective Game is a crime-solving game where kids piece together bits of information to solve a crime. Each player begins the game with his or her own indivudual page of clues and a pencil. The fun begins as the players first split up, then try to solve the mystery by trading secrets with each other. Each player is both a detective and also a witness to events that ocurred on the night of the crime. Slowly players put together the information they learn until one player declares she or he can solve the case.

Pssst, parents... It's really fun for families and adults too!

Setup time: 2 minutes (when we said instant we meant it!). Just type in players' names and print it!

Play time: About an hour.

To support all parents and kids at home during the Corona Virus Outbreak, we have made Instant Detective Game FREE. Let's keep kids thinking, socializing and problem solving. We're all in this together!

How to Play Instant Detective Game

How Instant Detective Game is Played

A crime was committed last night, and it happened between 5 O'Clock and 9 O'Clock.  The criminal stole the money, stashed it somwehere, then hid out for the rest of the nignt.

Each player is a detective trying to solve the crime.  And each player was also a witness to certain events.

Each detective starts with his/her printed page of clues, and a list of acceptable Questions for Witnesses.

The players then pair off on foot, and talk to each other one-on-one.  They each are allowed to ask 3 questions, such as:

  1. Where were you at 7 O'Clock?
  2. Tell me everything you saw at the Arcade last night?
  3. Did you see Kelly anywhere last night and were you there too?

Each player must answer the 3 questions honestly, based on the printed information on the player's page (see example page). The detectives take notes on their clues page.

After 3 questions, the detective must split up and seek out other players to meet with.

Keeps kids active for 90 minutes

Each detective will have to meet with each witness several times in order to fully solve the crime.

An active detective should be able to solve the crime in 60 to 90 minutes.  More players adds more time.

Whichever detective correctly solves the crime first is declared the best sleuth.
